The Xone 4:D is produced by well known british mixer producer Allen & Heath and is the follow up mixer/midi-controller for the Xone:3D with the only difference being the 20 channel sound card (10 stereo pairs). Used by many big names, the most famous is perhaps Richie Hawtin. Besides having an awful lot of buttons, knobs and encoders, the Xone 4:D also has an analouge mixer crammed into the middle of it, meaning that the actual blending of the channels can be done using the hardware only if one should want that.
With it's 20-channel soundcard it offers a lot of in/outs for loads of connectivity to other hardware mixers, the ability to route instruments through the mixer or the software running on your computer. The 4:D packs a punch when it comes to versatility and connectivity. Unfortunately it delivers the same punch when it's time to open your wallet for purchase. With an estimated 2000 Euro price tag it's actually one of the highest priced yet, when looking at MIDI-controllers marketed towards DJ's and those alike, as well as other hybrid gear marketed for DJ's - not even the "oh so expensive" CDJ-2000 can match it.
But, if you got the money to spend and creativity to utilize it all, it'll probably be a great buy and much fun.
